The need for applying agricultural chemicals is not the same from year to year so there really isn't a "spray schedule" that is set in stone, espcially for corn and soybeans that are major crops in IL. Most conventional corn and soybean fields would normally have 1 or 2 applications of herbicide to control weeds and grasses and possibly additional treatments for insects or disease as needed. Given the high cost of these treatments, Integrated Pest Management is utilized on most production fields to monitor the need for these additional applications which may not be necessay. Some specialty crops, possibly pumpkins, require more intensive and regular applications but the majority of ag chemicals used would be applied from sprayers on the ground and not airplanes.
For additional informaiton on common practices in your area you can contact the local University of IL Extension office, local farm chemical dealers or contact the landowner/farmer directly to inquire about their particular practices.
