When (how many inches tall?) should we transplant the black walnut seedlings that our squirrels have planted? What is the best time of the year to transplant them? Thanks!!! Russ

Greetings Russ:

You can transplant black walnut seedlings of any size and during any time of year. However, I strongly encourage you to transplant during early spring or late fall--I'm personally an advocate of spring planting/transplanting due to winter temperature extremes and dessication.

Just make sure you excavate as much of the original root system as possible :-)
