My parsley houseplants started showing flat white spots that cannot be rubbed off and it has been spreading. i have been eating the leaves with no adverse effects, but I have no idea what is causing these spots to appear and spread. Plants are otherwise healthy looking. Thanks Len

Hi, it is hard to say for sure what might be affecting your plants as there are a number of things that can cause similar looking symptoms and can range from physiological to a possible leaf spot disease. The physiological could be just leaf scortch or "sun spots" if the plants were exposed to a lot of direct sun very quickly causing leaf tissue to die due to heat or it could be a leaf spot which is maybe fungal. If this is the case I might suggest removing affected leaves, getting the plants in an area with good air circulation to keep foliage dry and watering so that leaves are not wet. Usually if it is fungal there would some type of distinct margin between affected tissue and live tissue. With sun spots there would not be such a margin. You just might need to manage by removal and altering cultural conditions.
