Since it has been so warm this spring do you think I need to put down my crabgrass preventer earlier this year?

Hi,

Given the warm temperatures it may something to consider. Crabgrass will start to germinate when soil temperatures reach about 55-60 at one-quarter inch below the soil for about a week. Soil temperatures at this point are at 55 degrees. There is also some wait and see going with preemergent control products because you could ask yourself if I don't put it down and crabgrass germinates will a potential frost kill off young crabgrass seedlings. So ots really a guessing game and you try to guess right so you might want to apply and make sure you water the product in well.
