Hi, Clematis are natural climbers as their leaf petiols will wrap around supports and aloow it to climb up. Make sure the support is of a type that the petiols can wrap around. They may need a little help at first but they should be able to climb up after that. Mos clematis will bloom best when give full sun. There are some that will tolerate and do fairly well in full shade. some of them include Clematis alpina 'Blue Dancer, Constance, Foxy, Francis Riva, Frankie, Pamela Jackson, Ocean Pearl, Clematis viticelli Betty Corning, Alba Luxurian, Clematis Jubilee, Cezanne.
