I have some June bearing strawberries. A couple of years ago they were destroyed by ants with a hill nearby. I think they were the big black kind. This year some smaller reddish ants are active near my developing berries. I just saw them and they were carrying white grubs or something about 1/8 inch long into their hole. I was reluctant to destroy them because they might be doing a service. I also have a rose nearby. What would you advise? Thank you.

Hi,

Ants are considered benficial and unless they are making the garden unusable or are a nuscience I might suggest not doing anything because if you do spray they may just move to a new location and sprays outdoors in the garden for ants is not usually suggested.the white things are more than likely egg cases.
