I just bought a fig tree. It's 3 ft. tall and has a few figs on it. How do I plant it and care for it?

Hi,

Figs are easy to grow. I am guessing that it is in a pot. Put in a full sun location and provide it with water to keep the soil uniformly moist. Fertlize maybe every two weeks with a general purpose liquid fertilizer. For the winter it needs to be brought in. You can keep it growing in the pot if you have a spot that gets very hight light during the winter months. if you don't you can allow the plant to go dormant by withholding water and then bringing it in to a place that is cool, dry and dark. cool about 40-45 degrees. this will keep the plant dormant until you return it to the outdoors. may need very minimal watering during the winter to keep it from dehydrating but not enough to cause it to grow.
