Usually in early July I have a lawn service apply grub treatment. We haven't seen as many Japanese beetles this year, perhaps due to the drought. I have let my lawn go dormant and am wondering if it is advisable to still apply the grub treatment this late in the season. I don't want to stress out my lawn any more than it already is. And, I would rely on forcasted rain to water in any application.

Hi, If yuor lawn is dormant grass in this state is not very attractive to the adult beetles of grubs to lay eggs in and I doubt that grub damage will be a problem i dormant lawns. Grub adults (the beetles) prefer moist soils and lawns that are green and growing so those who water may have more of a bporblem than those who don't so I don't see a need for grub application because I think lawns will make it through being dormant and if dry conditions continue there may be more damage from dead grass due to dry soils than grubs.
