soaker hose watering

We purchased a soaker hose recently. the instructions say water for about 3hours for 1" of water. Someone suggested using tuna cans to see if this is right. The water was turned on all the way. The tuna cans were filled in 35 mins. Are we doing this the right way (our first time using a soaker hose)?

Hi, What you are doing is okay. The reason the times differ is all soaker hoses are not created equal and there may be difference in water presure so the times are extremely variable.
