Lisa Wait is the Multi-County Director for the University of Illinois Extension in the Bond/Clinton/Jefferson/Marion/Washington Unit. As the Multi-County Director Ms. Wait's primary responsibility is providing leadership to and communicating the educational mission of the local multi-county unit and University of Illinois Extension. Ms. Wait is the local representative of Extension with responsibility to facilitate and establish relationships with diverse audiences, and to collaborate and partner with people to improve the lives of individuals and communities in which they live. The Multi-County Extension Director is also responsible for marketing, promoting, development, and delivery of Extension educational programs while managing the Extension budget and personnel.
Ms. Wait holds a master's degree from Northern Illinois University, Dekalb and bachelor's degree from Maryville University, St. Louis. Although Ms. Wait is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, she has lived in beautiful southern Illinois for 17 years in the valley of the Village of Makanda, Illinois. With the new position with Extension, Ms. Wait is planning to move to Carlyle, IL in the very near future.
Ms. Wait comes to the Extension team with a very diverse background in program development and administration including professional development, alternative and leadership education, wilderness/adventure therapy, social services, environmental education and more. Most recently she has worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jackson and Perry counties in Illinois and with the American Red Cross- Little Egypt's 14 southern Illinois counties. Her recent affiliations include serving on the Village of Makanda board, United Way of Southern Illinois – Carbondale committee, BASIC (building asset strong, involved communities) committee.
Ms. Wait is motivated to help Extension grow in new, positive and interesting directions. She is excited to meet Extension stakeholders and community members welcoming feedback and input from all.
