As a Community Worker under the Natural Resource Programs, Connie is responsible for scheduling and conducting education programs on natural resources and recycling. Connie works out of the Natural Resource Education Center in Russell Woods Forest Preserve outside Genoa, IL. In the spring and fall she coordinates and leads field studies for school classrooms at Russell Woods. During the winter months Connie presents the DeKalb County School Recycling Program to area elementary schools. In the summer she oversees 6 week-long summer camps and supervises 2-3 summer camp counselors plus a couple of junior counselors.
Throughout the entire year Connie is responsible for the care, feeding and cleaning of the live animal displays that are housed at the Natural Resource Education Center (NREC). The several tanks and habitats are home to such animals as snakes, turtles, salamanders and bullfrogs. These animals are used in educational programs that are taught out of the NREC.
Connie has worked for the University of Illinois Extension in DeKalb County since 2007. She has a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Iowa State University and worked in the banking industry before leaving the workforce in 1997 to raise a family. Connie, her husband and their 4 sons are very involved in the scouting program.
