Master Naturalist Class 2012

January 25, 2012

University of Illinois Extension LaSalle County Unit will once again be offering initial training in the Master Naturalist Program beginning March 28, 2012. Classes will be offered on Wednesday afternoons from 5 until 8 pm and we will be taking some field trips on some Saturdays.

In 2008 we offered Master Naturalist training for the first time in LaSalle County and had a great class of thirty-one students.

Topics include: Aquatic life and systems, botany, ecological concepts, entomology, geology, herpetology, mammals, ornithology and bird watching, prairies and prairie restoration, wetlands.

Instructors include local and regional experts in their fields.

Cost of the program is $250 which includes books and handouts.

Upon completion of the initial training, participants volunteer thirty hours per year in a variety of projects to earn their certification as Master Naturalists.
