Midland FFA Teams Up to Teach

Mrs. Coble, 5th grade teacher at Midland Middle School recently welcomed back former students as “teachers”.  Raegan La Quia, Gage Schoepke, Logan Pyles and Wyatt Colvin participated in the morning Midland FFA Teaching Experience.  The afternoon team was Brenda Beaver, Lilah Bobinski, Clayton Blunier and Zack Weber. The high school students lead the classes in a dairy experiment and taste test. After explaining the importance of the dairy industry and reviewing the differences between skim, 2% and whole milk, students were handed packages of ice cream mixture to shake. Unknown to the students was the kind of milk in their package. At the conclusion, students tasted samples of each ice cream made and rated them according to creaminess, flavor, and texture. The purpose of the experiment was to see if the kind of milk used would make a difference in the end product.   Many students were surprised when they did not match the milk with the correct end result.
