Sangamon-Menard 4-H celebrated this year’s Pi Day (3-14-15) with “Pi-making” workshops where participants created a perfect pie! Youth gathered at PORTA High School on March 10th and at the Springfield Extension Office on March 16th and learned tricks and techniques for pie crust making from wonderful volunteers. Each participant left with a complete pie to take home and enjoy with their family!

“pi” refers to a never-ending mathematical constant that is usually rounded to 3.14.

Therefore, March 14 is referred to as “Pi Day”, because it can be shown as 3/14.

This year, 2015, was extra special because the next two digits in pi are 15 as in 3.1415.

3/14/15 was the most accurate Pi day for this century!
