Natural Streams
Natural streams have:
- Adequate shading
- Good cover for fish
- Stable temperatures
- Abundant leaf debris
In many natural streams, there is a narrow area along side the stream called the riparian area. This provides shade, habitat, and organic material for small organisms to eat. Riparian areas also contribute by slowing erosion along the stream.
