  • 3rd Annual East Central Illinois Regional Broadband Summit
    Attend the 3rd Annual East Central Illinois Regional Broadband Summit to learn what public and private entities at the local, state, and federal level are doing to address broadband (high-speed Internet) access needs in our rural region and learn about area resources and educational opportunities for your community or organization to enhance broadband use by our citizens. the Broadband Summit will be held on December 6. Visit informational booths and network with broadband vendors, stakeholders, community leaders and industry experts. Presentations will be given by representatives from the East Central Illinois Regional eTeam, Partnership for a Connected Illinois, Illinois Century Network, Lake Land College, Cellular One of East Central Illinois, Consolidated Communications, Frontier Communications, Metro Communications, and many more.   • Local Government Tele-Institutes
    Local Government Tele-Institutes Series for 2012-2013 The University of Illinois Extension Local Government Information & Education Network (LGIEN) and the Illinois Association of County Board Members and Commissioners (IACBMC) are currently offering a local government education series addressing issues impacting counties and communities in Illinois. The education series is broadcast over a statewide audio-teleconference system through Illinois County Extension offices and other partnering locations. This is an eight part monthly tele-institute series starting in September 2012 and ending in April 2013. The sessions are the third Thursday of each month from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. 12/15 - "GIS/GEOSPATIAL" Spring 2012 sessions include: 1/19 - "Privatization/Intergovernmental Agreements" 2/16 – "The Importance of Broadband for Community Survival and How E-Government is Changing the Way Services are Being Provided" 3/15 - "Obstacles and Opportunities that Special Structure Assessment Present" 4/19 - "Sitting and Permitting Wind Farms in Illinois – Lessons Learned from Local Officials" Attendees that are enrolled in the Certified County Officials (CCO) program can receive two hours of general credit for each session they attend.
