4-H members are required to attend the Youth PQA Plus training to show at the county and Illinois State Fair.
For the 2013 shows members will need to abide by their county guidelines for exhibiting swine projects at the Clay 4-H show and those guidelines reflect members must attend the Youth PQA Plus training as required by the local livestock committee and the state 4-H office.
One LAST CHANCE PQA local training will be held 6:30-7:30 May 21 at the Sunrise Youth Center and Community Building, 1401 Clayton Ave., Newton. Register online at:
https://webs.extension.uiuc.edu/registration/?RegistrationID=8163
Starting in 2013, all 4-Hers enrolled in a livestock project area are required to complete the online Quality Assurance and Ethics course one time in order to stay enrolled in a livestock project area.
The certification must be done if you are enrolled in one of the following projects: poultry, beef, dairy, goats, horses, sheep, and swine. Members who don't complete the certification before the show will be removed from the project and not be allowed to show. Anyone who has already taken the certification does not need to retake the test. The local office has a list of those already certified.
The website is located online at: http://web.extension.illinois.edu/qaec/ . This rule applies to 4Hers who exhibit live animals AND poster exhibits.
High school-aged 4-H members and/or their parents are encouraged to sign up to help at the Coon Hunt sometime during May 2-5. If you know of anyone in the community or a past member that would be willing to help, ask them as well. We need everyone's help!
To sign-up, please contact Chrissy Erwin, erwin24@wabash.net (preferred) or at 665-4902, or Katrina Van Dyke vandyke@wabash.net or 686-4393.
Each 4-H club is asked to provide a minimum of 15 desserts and they need to be delivered to the fairgrounds by the morning of your club's assigned day (see below).
