Monsanto is excited to announce its America's Farmers Mom of the Year 2013 program, designed to recognize the countless contributions that farm moms bring to their families, farms and communities. Beginning March 3, anyone can nominate their favorite farm mom. Five regional winners will be selected by American Agri-Women, and each will win a $5,000 cash prize from Monsanto. Online voting will determine the National Farm Mom of the Year and winner of an additional $2,500.
Anyone can nominate a farm mom – simply visit www.AmericasFarmers.com by Mother's Day (May 8) and tell us in 300 words or less how the mom you're nominating embodies the family farm way of life. Regional winners will be notified on April 26, and online voting will take place May 1—10. Your favorite farm mom could be this year's national winner! To nominate your mom go to: http://www.americasfarmers.com/mom/nominate.aspx
Starting in 2013, all 4-Hers enrolled in a livestock project area are required to complete the online Quality Assurance and Ethics course one time in order to stay enrolled in a livestock project area.
The certification must be done if you are enrolled in one of the following projects: poultry, beef, dairy, goats, horses, sheep, and swine. Members who don't complete the certification before the show will be removed from the project and not be allowed to show. Anyone who has already taken the certification does not need to retake the test. The local office has a list of those already certified.
The website is located online at: http://web.extension.illinois.edu/qaec/ . This rule applies to 4Hers who exhibit live animals AND poster exhibits.
