Judy Mae Bingman began her Extension career in 1983 as youth advisor in White County, Illinois where she developed such innovative programs as the 4-H Kids Helping Kids Service Learning Club, after hours after school 4-H clubs and cooking clubs. She left Extension in 1990 to pursue a magazine publishing career, and returned in 2002 to continue her work with the youth in White County. She spent one year creating SPIN (Special Interest) 4-H Clubs in the east central region. She currently serves as youth educator for the four-county Extension unit serving families in Clay, Effingham, Fayette and Jasper counties.
Judy Mae received her bachelor's degree in agricultural communication from the University of Illinois in 1983 and received her master's degree in human resource education, also from U of I, in 2009.
Judy Mae uses her publishing background to enhance the image
of the Illinois 4-H program with clear, easy-to-understand writing and her photography skills.
Judy Mae is a member of the Illinois Extension Professionals for Youth Education where she serves as chairman of the Public Relations and Information committee. She is a member of the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents and has been rewarded in that organization for her personal column and newsletter production excellence.
