Plan Well, Retire Well

Maui 2015

Reflecting on 2015 ... Moving Forward in 2016

During the holidays I had an amazing opportunity to travel to Maui. As I walked along the beach, listening to the surf and marveling at the full rainbow over the ocean, I thought about where I am in my life and what I'd like to do in 2016. I believe in the value of reflecting on what we've done as well as setting goals for the future.

In this mood, let's take a quick look at the Plan Well Retire Well blog in 2015, before we jump into blogging for this coming year. We had 55 blog posts (our goal is one a week) and over 19,000 views in 2015 (some of these views are for older posts).

We keep track of views on old posts and it's interesting to watch which articles continue to be popular over time. The Best Financial Tool for Young Adults written in July 2014 continues to be read regularly – who would have guessed a blog about an old-fashion file box would be popular!

Early last year, Karen wrote "Dear Young Friend: Three Buckets for Your Money" and since then over 1900 people have read this post! Her post series continued throughout the year and you can read the whole series by clicking on Organizing Finances in the Category list on the right side of the blog page.

Pam's The Game of Saving also had high interest (I can't believe I made a pun without trying!) and another blog by her, "Saving the Food Budget," had high numbers. Saving money is clearly important to our readers.

Sasha recently purchased a new home and blogged about her experiences in the series, Sasha Learns: How to Buy a House, starting in January 2015. If you're considering buying a home and missed this series, you can read it now.

Clearly we bring our own life experiences to our blog! I wrote a several blog posts about identity theft such as Minimize the Risk of Someone Using Your Identity. I'm ready to deal with something different in 2016.

What topics are of interest to you? Please leave ideas in the Comment box below – we're always looking for good topics!

Now it's time to remember the good times of 2015 and visualize all the positive changes we'll make in 2016 with our finances as well as other aspects of our lives.

Happy New Year and Aloha!
