ANNOUNCING: Our New Curriculum

As University of Illinois Extension educators, we do financial education outreach in a variety of ways. Obviously we blog, and we also teach people in person. In our "free" time we also create new educational materials and curriculum. For the past three years, we've been working to create, revise and update All My Money: Change for the Better curriculum and we're happy to announce, it's done!

The All My Money: Change for the Better curriculum is a train-the-trainer financial management program for persons working with limited-resource audiences. All My Money: Change for the Better (AMM) is designed so that agency staff, social workers and other educators can teach financial literacy topics, even if they do not regularly teach financial management.

What makes All My Money special?

  • A program that's ready to go, right out of the box
  • Materials written at a reading level clients can understand
  • Participants learn from hands-on and experiential learning such as discussion, games, case examples, and demonstrations
  • Customizable lesson plans. Use the suggested 60 or 30 minute plans or use individual activities and handouts.
  • Resource box full of re-usable and reproducible materials

If you teach financial education, I think you will like using this curriculum! I know I can't wait to use all the fun hands-on pieces, and our friend Cash Cat lightens up our materials. We purposely chose a cat as our "mascot" for the curriculum -- we know that talking about money can be challenging and a little scary at times. We thought a friendly cat would help!

Training Opportunity at AFCPE Symposium -- Kentucky

I also want to share about a great opportunity in November. Join us for the National Release Event of the revised All My Money: Change for the Better curriculum Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at the Marriott Downtown Louisville Hotel in Louisville, KY. This event is being held in conjunction with the 2016 Association for Financial Counseling, Planning, Education's Research and Training Symposium.

This session will show you how to use All My Money's hands-on, experiential approach to encouraging learning through discussion, games, case examples, demonstrations, and application.

Registration includes training, Activity Resource Box and electronic files of the curriculum PLUS a full printed copy of the curriculum. To register visit AFCPE, http://www.afcpe.org/conference2/presymposium/. You do not have to participate in the full AFCPE Symposium to participate in our training.

Have a good day,

The All My Money: Change for the Better team
