Ag Career Night was a Success!

Posted by Aimee Chandler -

The first Ford-Iroquois Ag in the Classroom Agriculture Career Night was a great success on February 12, 2013.  There were 72 people present learning about the different agricultural careers that are available in the industry.  Representatives from University of Illinois, Illinois State Unversity, Western Illinois University, Parkland College, Kankakee Community College, Lake Land College, and Joliet Junior College were onhand to speak to students about their agriculture programs.  Students and parents had the opportunity to hear from a panel of 15 agribusiness men and women who spoke on various aspects of their jobs.  They shared information on their daily duties, schooling required, skills needed in their job, most rewarding aspect of their jobs and more.  Many of them offered advice to students about what classes they should be focusing on in high school and college as well as other things they can be doing now to prepare them for a job in agriculture.

Articles on this event can be found in the Watseka Times Republic and the Kankakee Daily Journal.

Thank you to all who helped make this event a success!!
