The Champaign Extension Center of University of Illinois Extension provides counties and communities in East Central Illinois a wide variety of research-based information and program opportunities. The center staff work with all ages of individuals in agencies, organizations, families, communities and businesses to help them learn the most recent findings in topics ranging from water quality to food safety to landscaping to leadership development. Although the roots of University of Illinois Extension are agricultural, the staff of the Champaign Center offer many educational programs for urban and suburban audiences as well. Along with community people and county Extension staffs, the center educators identify, analyze and prioritize the issues affecting local citizens. In addition to issues recognized on the federal and state level, Extension's goal is to "help people help themselves." The team of educators in Champaign is made up of the following program areas: Community Economic Development Consumer and Family Economics Crops Systems Family Life Integrated Pest Management Natural Resources Nutrition and Wellness Youth Development
