4-H Small Engine Workshop (Montgomery County) April 21 9 a.m.-2:30p.m.
Pizza will be served for lunch. At the Montgomery County Extension Office in Hillsboro. Learn how engines work by taking one apart and putting it back together. Master mechanic Veryl Reiher, will provide a hands-on learning environment for kids to learn how engines work, identify engine parts, overhauling small engines, troubleshooting and maintenance. Open to youth ages 10-18. Parents are welcome to attend.

In 4-H, we know that there are times when you just want to say "Now, THAT'S 4-H!" Now you have a chance to share in $1,000 worth of prizes in the "That's 4-H" Contest. Submit a photo, video, story, poem or promotional item that really shows what 4-H is all about to you & your entry could be featured in a statewide 4-H Campaign. Call office for all the entry rules. This contest is open to everyone who has experienced 4-H in their life.

Public Speaking Presentation (Montgomery County) - April 24, 6 p.m.

For members enrolled in the public speaking project. Youth in this competition will chose to present a formal, extempore, illustrated, original speech or demonstration. If you would like to participate in this event and you have not registered for public speaking please contact our office to have the project added to your enrollment.

Music Competition (Montgomery County) - APRIL 27, 5 P.M.

Held at the free Methodist Church in Hillsboro. Members must be enrolled in Music to participate. Members can choose to compete in vocal and/or instrumental jr/sr divisions. If you would like to participate in this event and you have not registered for music please contact our office to have the project added to your enrollment.

Certified & Non-Certified Training
Ages 8-13: Cost $25 non-certified
Ages 12-18: 1-4:30 p.m. Cost $50 Certified Fee waivers are not available for this event.

Dog Obedience Classes In Montgomery County Starting May 6

Montgomery county 4-H is hosting a dog obedience training course at the 4-H Park in Butler, IL beginning on May 6, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. and running each Tuesday night through June 10 (six classes in total). The course is open to both 4-H and non-4-H youths, as well as adults.
Anyone interested in participating must register prior to May 2, 2014

Babysitting Clinic (Jersey County) - June 10

University of Illinois Extension in Jersey County will offer a Babysitting Clinic on Tuesday, June 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Jerseyville Public Library. The library is located at 105 North Liberty in Jerseyville. The workshop is open to all youth entering 6th grade and up who would like to learn about babysitting. Youth will learn about child safety, medical emergencies, infant care, and preparation of nutritious snacks, games & activities to use when babysitting. In addition, the youth will receive a Babysitting Manual and a babysitting tote. The cost for the clinic is $20 and includes lunch. For more information, call the Jersey County Extension office at 618-498-2913. Deadline to register is June 9. The workshop is limited to 20 youth.
