Accent photo What is the Christian County LEADership Academy?

The LEADership Academy is an approach to leadership development providing Christian County residents with an opportunity to become better informed about issues impacting the community and learning how "to get things done".

The LEADership Academy will allow class members the chance to look creatively at the county and/or community, to find new opportunities to improve business prospects, family life and their environment.

The LEADershp Academy is an interactive learning process. The discussion sessions will be led by community and county leaders, business people, and university faculty members.

The LEADership Academy encourages participants to look at Christian County as a whole and to find their place for involvement in business, government, agriculture, education, religion or community service.

Tuition: As with any true partnership, costs for the LEADership program are shared. Tuition is $199 per participant (make checks payable to the Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce) and helps cover expenses for the orientation meeting, state government trip, program materials and the graduation banquet. Employers or civic groups may be willing to share this expense with participants.

Additional support for travel, meals, supplies and general administration is provided by local businesses, organizations, government and the University of Illinois Extension Christian County.

Note: Successful completion of the LEADership program requires attendance at no fewer than 10 of the 12 weekly sessions.

Application Process: To apply for the 2013 Christian County LEADership Academy, complete the application below, include tuition of $199, and submit to the U of I Extension Christian County office at 1120 N. Webster St., Taylorville, IL. Completed applications and full tuition payments are due by close of business on Friday, December 14, 2012.
