Annie’s Project Talks Wills, Trusts, & Estate Planning In Macoupin County
March 4, 2016
Thursday, February 25 participants in “Annie's Project” learned about wills, trusts and estate planning at the Macoupin County Extension office.
Participants heard from speaker Nancy M. Handegan from Decatur on the importance of having a will. She also gave an overview of trusts and estate planning, and how they relate to farming operations. A Taylorville native, Nancy was born and raised in Central Illinois. She is a graduate of the College of Agriculture at the University of Illinois, where she also received her law degree. Nancy then worked for the Federal Land Bank of St. Louis, assisting numerous farm families with estate planning. She launched her own law office in 2003, with an emphasis on estate planning, trusts, commercial litigation, legal and business entities, real estate and title insurance. Today, Handegan owns First Illinois Title Group LLC, and provides legal counsel and representation for numerous Central Illinois businesses, families and developers.
Annie's Project is a six-part course offered by University of Illinois Extension in partnership with Annie's Project. The program looks to empower women in agriculture by holding discussion-based workshops that bring women together to learn from experts in production, financial management, human resources, marketing, and the legal field.
