Extension Host Babysitting Workshop in Jerseyville

Jersey County 4-H hosted a babysitting workshop on Tuesday, June 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Jersey County Extension office.  The workshop was open to youth sixth grade or older.

Participants learned about basic first aid, ages & stages of Development, healthy snacks, games and activities, and babysitting as a business.  Sheriff Kallal; Christine Smith, of the Jersey County Health Department; Lisa Petersen, Unit 18 Nutrition & Wellness Educator and Unit 18 staff Danielle Cole presented.

“Babysitting is often the first job a young person will have.” said Jersey County 4-H Program Coordinator. “The purpose of this workshop is to help youth better handle the responsibility associated with caring for children.”

For more information about 4-H, please contact Judy Benz, Jersey County 4-H Program Coordinator, at the Extension office in Jersey by phone 618-498-2913, or email at benz@illinois.edu, or online at: http://web.extension.illinois.edu/cjmm/jersey4h/.
