Preserve Your Garden through Freezing and Drying Class in Hillsboro

Love garden fresh fruits and vegetables, but struggle to eat all the produce before it goes bad? Spend an evening with University of Illinois Extension learning about safe and effective freezing and drying methods for produce. Receive a packet of information on the latest preservation methods, taste test dried produce, and troubleshoot drying and freezing issues. This class is great for individuals completely new to freezing and drying, or those who have been preserving for years, but need a refresher.

This program will be held at the Montgomery County Extension Office in Hillsboro, IL on June 14th from 5:30pm-7:30pm. This class is part of the Unit 18 Eat Local Initiative and all costs are covered by a grant funded by the Lumpkin Family Foundation.

 Follow the Eat Local Challenge on Facebook and learn about upcoming events, information about growing and maintaining home gardens, visiting local farmers markets, and useful tips, recipes, and methods for preserving locally grown food.
