Homegrown Cooking with Kids Camp Starting in Morrisonville June 26

Have kids who love to cook? Join University of Illinois Extension as they provide a hands-on, three-day cooking camp in Morrisonville June 26 through the 28 from 9 am-11:30 am at the Masonic Temple in Morrisonville. These classes provide youth entering 3rd through 5th grade the opportunity to learn basic cooking skills, the importance of good nutrition, food safety, and how to cook with local and seasonal foods. Each session youth will prepare recipes and taste test food produced in the area as well as participate in additional engaging activities. Class size is limited, so register soon.

This program is offered at no cost thanks in part to a grant funded by the Lumpkin Family Foundation.

Follow the Unit 18 Eat Local Challenge on Facebook and learn about upcoming events, information about growing and maintaining home gardens, visiting local farmers markets, and useful tips, recipes, and methods for preserving locally grown food.
