4-H ART Club All About Faces
March 1, 2018
4-H Art Club members participated in art classes for six weeks on Saturday mornings during January and February. The focus this year was on drawing and in particular, drawing faces. Art enthusiast Suzi Humphreys of Chesterfield and Lydia Davenport of Carlinville guided youth in a variety of activities focused on enhancing basic drawing techniques. Suzi was able to share her knowledge and passion for the arts with local youth during this program.
Participants explored the basics of art and discovered helpful pointers when working with different types of art supplies. Participants created their very own artwork to take home and were able to prepare for the upcoming 4-H General Show this summer. Some of the designed pieces will be on display in the 4-H building during the Macoupin County Fair June 26-30.
For the final art session, members were given the opportunity to “go to college.” Blackburn College Art Professor, Bob Huber, gave the group a tour of the Visual Arts Center at Blackburn and provided information and history of certain historical pieces of art. Youth were able to ask questions and view the Blackburn Art Gallery.
