Junior Chef Cooking School is one of the many nutritional educational programs offered by Cook County/North Suburban Unit at University of Illinois Extension. During the summer, children age 8 - 12 learn about food safety, food budgeting, basic nutrition, healthy activities and cooking. Junior Chef School provides young people with information and tools needed to develop a sense of self-sufficiency, and options to make healthy food choices. The following photos are from our Summer 2005 Junior Chef School at the Village of Maywood Recreational Center and Plainfield Elementary School in Des Plaines, IL. The kids were eager to learn good nutrition and safe and healthy exercises. At the completion of the Junior Chef School curriculum, the young people earned a certificate of accomplishment.
