Decatur CARE Fair Connects Those in Need with Services

Decatur is a community known for its generosity when it comes to helping those in need. That giving spirit will be on display this spring at the Decatur CARE Fair – Community Assistance and Resource Education. Community members will have an opportunity to learn what area social service agencies can provide and talk with representatives one-on-one at a convenient location without an appointment.

Join us from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 at The Salvation Army Community Center, 229 W. Main Street in Decatur. The CARE Fair is free and open to the public. Door prizes will be available. Agencies that will be available during the event are Good Samaritan Inn, Northeast Community Fund, the Salvation Army and more.

If you have questions or need more information, please contact Sarah Van Rheeden at or call 217.877.6042. This event is possible due to a partnership between Good Samaritan Inn, Northeast Community Fund, The Salvation Army and University of Illinois Extension’s SNAP-Ed program.

Illinois SNAP-Ed helps those in need make heathier choices by reaching out to people in their communities through education and hands-on skill building activities. In 2016, University of Illinois Extension Macon County’s SNAP-Ed program served 7,133 program participants.

University of Illinois Extension provides equal opportunities in programs and employment. If you need reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, please call 217.877.6042.
