Enjoy Fresh Blooms All Summer with Buttered Bun Flower Class

Grow, harvest and arrange stunning seasonal blooms in your own backyard this summer. Now is the time to start planning for a flower garden with the help of DeWitt County University of Illinois Extension. Learn about the benefits of growing cut flower gardens and tips for growing them successfully at home in the hands-on class A Cut Above, Cut Flower Gardening 101.

Cut flower gardening can be an easy specialty that not only adds flowers in your garden, but also allows you to decorate your home with beautiful arrangements all summer long. This fun class will cover everything you need to know from the science behind conditioning plants for longevity to Horticulture Educator Candice Hart’s all-time favorite flowers to grow. Participants will even be able create their own vase of garden flowers to take home. This hands-on program will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11 at the Buttered Bun, 109 E. Main St. in Maroa.

The cost for this class is $30, which includes all the materials necessary to make the floral arrangement. Please register by May 10 online at go.illinois.edu/dmp or by calling the DeWitt County Extension Office at 217.935.5764. For more information, contact Candice Hart at mille116@illinois.edu.
