Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an exotic pest that has invaded parts of Illinois. It is responsible for the death of many ash trees. While not yet found statewide, the entire state is federally regulated for EAB. This means firewood cannot be moved out of the state. In addition, there are areas within Illinois that are quarantined, where firewood cannot be moved away from the location.
It is very important that both firewood buyers and vendors know and follow EAB regulations, to limit the devastation of this pest.
