Beetles in Sweet Corn

I'm receiving some calls on how to control Japanese beetle in sweet corn. They feed on the silks and disrupt pollination, resulting in missing or sporadic kernels. Since my fact sheet for homeowners doesn't list this crop, here are the chemical recommendations for controlling Japanese beetle in sweet corn.

Apply at fresh-silk stage to early and late corn every 2 days, repeating 4 or 5 times
carbaryl (Sevin) - o day harvest interval (which means you can harvest as soon as the sprays have dried or dusts have settled)

Apply at fresh-silk stage to early and late corn every 5 days, repeating 2 or 3 times
-cyfluthrin (Bayer Advanced Vegetable and Garden Insect Spray) - 0 day harvest interval
-permethrin (several Bayer, Bonide, Hi-Yield, and Ortho products) - 1 day harvest interval
-spinosad (Conserve and several Bonide, Gardens Alive, and Fertilome products) - 1 day harvest interval
