Unit #11 Horticulture Education Team

Posted by Rhonda J. Ferree -

We are happy to announce that our horticulture education team is now complete. Help me welcome Christine Belless and Paula Lane to our crew.

Christine Belless is coordinating our new Master Naturalist program. Our first training begins on August 27th and Christine has an amazing lineup of instructors and locations. Christine has been with Extension for many years, working first with the SNAP-ED program in Fulton county and most recently with the 4-H program in Mason county. Christine's office is in Havana.

Paula Lane is our new office support associate in the Havana office. In addition to the usual secretarial duties, Paula also serves as our central point for most Master Gardener (MG) and Master Naturalist (MN) communications. This includes keeping all of your volunteer contact information up-to-date. We want Paula to get to know each of you, your areas of specialization, and what types of projects you prefer. This is essential since Paula also serves as the main contact for speakers bureau requests in all four counties.

Rounding out our horticulture education team in the Havana office are Julia Pryor, Master Gardener Program Coordinator and Rhonda Ferree, extension educator in horticulture. Other support staff includes Becky Campbell in Lewistown who assists with newsletters and media work and Sheila Bollinger in Pekin who is responsible for fiscal tasks. Debbie Shelby (Lewistown and Pekin) and Julann Schierer (Peoria) help in various other ways. A complete listing of all staff in Unit #11 is found under the staff tab at http://web.extension.illinois.edu/fmpt.
