Request Help with a Community Garden

Posted by Rhonda J. Ferree -

Our extension offices receive many requests for help with local community gardens in the four counties we serve: Fulton, Mason, Peoria, and Tazewell counties.

Although Master Gardeners are not usually available to help with individual gardens, Master Gardener Plant Detectives are on call to answer questions during the garden growing season.
  1. A live garden hotline is available every Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to noon. Reach them at (309) 685-3140, ext. 13.
  2. Email at uiemg-peoria@illinois.edu.
  3. Contact your local University of Illinois Extension office in Fulton county at 309.547.3711, Mason county at 309.543.3308, and Tazewell county at 309.347.6614.

If you are planning a community garden, this toolkit from the University of Missouri will be a big help.
