 Forrest Hill Organic Community Garden….. 706 E. Forrest Hill, Peoria is a cooperative project started by community members who were interested in learning to grow food locally and organically in a more sustainable and nutrient rich way. MG’s and interns are welcome to become part time or ongoing supporters of this project.  There are many opportunities for helping less experienced people and learning from more experienced people.  There are several group work days during the growing season, but much of the weeding, watering, and general garden maintenance is done by individual members throughout the year.  The first two group work days are on April 7th and April 21st from 10am-1pm.  Contact Harry Elger - (309) 682-9717, Greg Barta - (309) 370-6411, or Sunil Sharma - (616) 218-2984 for more information. Project Chair- Harry Elger – hlgr@att.net

Gardens at War Memorial Drive and Knoxville….This garden is a joint effort by Master Gardeners, the City of Peoria and local home owners associations to beautify one of Peoria’s  historic intersections.  Project Chair-Polly Wagner- pollwagn@stphils.com

 Hoop House Garden at Common Place….This is a project  by the  4H Spark Tank team of Peoria to build and operate a hoop house garden to help their community.  Master Gardeners, Common Place staff and participants, City of Peoria staff, and community volunteers all help support the Spark Tank teens. Project Chair-Martha Willi- willimartha@hotmail.com

Holy Family Church’s  St. Fiacre Gardens......  Learn how to operate, work, manage church and school gardens. Come see 10 church gardens and 12 spiritual statues. Gardens include Adoration, Bamboo, Butterfly, Hosta, Hydrangea, Island, Memorial, Patio, Rose and School gardens.  ICC..….(Illinois Central College Land Laboratory in E. Peoria) Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Master Gardeners plan and maintain demonstration gardens for the public and host educational events throughout the growing season.   Peoria workdays are Tuesday mornings, but volunteers can come on any day. New participants are most welcome. In addition to the annual Landscape & Garden Day in September, there are three significant mid-July events at ICC.  These events are the Midwest Regional Hosta Society convention, the Garden Clubs of Illinois convention, and a Bradley University OLLI class.  Jubilee Butterfly Garden…...11817 W. Jubilee College Rd., Brimfield. Workdays for the Butterfly Garden are Thursdays from 9 - 12 PM.   Come join our great volunteers and learn lots about butterflies and butterfly gardening.  Volunteers are always welcome to take part in being "docents" in the college, helping with the prairies and butterfly garden restoration. Peoria Academy’s Butterfly Gardens.…Peoria Academy,2711 W. Willow Knolls Drive, Peoria, IL 61614. The garden is a certified Monarch Watch waystation and includes includes  plantings, bushes,  and a small Coy fish pond with water lillys.  The goal is to educate all grades regarding nature, insects, and butterflies to foster love of nature, education, respect, and stewardship.  Project Chair-Kim Scott - birdco2@yahoo.com

Peoria Farmers Market at Peoria Riverfront.  Every Saturday from the end of May through the end of September, Master Gardener volunteers set up our information booth at the Riverfront Farmers Market located near the Illinois River in Peoria IL.  Booth set up begins at 7:30am with the booth open from 8:00am to Noon.  MGs share extension information, answer gardening questions, and enjoy the surroundings of the ever growing market.  Join us for a Saturday or two during season for a fun and interesting volunteer experience.  For more inforation, call May Bach at (309)397-5008. Project Chair-May Bach - may.bach23455@yahoo

United Presbyterian Church “Adopt a Garden”….at 2400 W Northmoor Rd in Peoria.  Currently there are 4 gardens that have been adopted.  Kick off will be Saturday, April 23 in the morning. There will also be a quick walk through of all the gardens at the end of the morning for information sharing and perhaps plant sharing. Wildlife Prairie Park......4H Great Learning Garden  The garden is located near the butterfly habitat inside Wildlife Prairie Park.  Through the use of various planting methods, 4-H members and MG/MN volunteers grow produce used to feed the animal residents of the park.  Group meetings with 4-H youth members and Master Gardener advisors are held 10:00am to Noon on the last Saturday of every month January through November.  Art in the garden is a major element of our goal,  and creating fun art projects are part of every group meeting.  Regular garden work days will occur through out the season.  Please like us on Facebook at Wildlife Prairie Park 4-H Great Learning Garden for updates, additional information, and to view photos of the activities.  Call May Bach (309)397-5008 or Rebecca Knight (309)453-2729 for more information. Project Chairs-May Bach - may.bach23455@yahoo  and Rebecca Knight - tridoc927@gmail.com
