Master Gardeners and Master Naturalists were involved with the Jubilee College Historic Site Event on Aug. 6, 2016.

Approximately 280 people enjoyed the grounds, buildings, butterfly garden, cemetery, and prairie.

Many thanks to the college docents for the day: Tony Anderson, Louise Bassett, Cornell Carr, Ann Joyce, Richard Joyce and Joan Welton and to Kathy McLaughlin for filling in as a "floater".

Our "gate keeper", Polly Wagner welcomed visitors and signed them in.

We appreciated the visit from Ryan Prehn, Division Manager for the Illinois Historic Sites.

Thank you to the Master Gardeners who visited with people in our butterfly garden: Melanie Anderson, Bonnie Hunt, Cathie Maguire and Bonnie Williams.

Jerry Lutker had 41 guests who visited with her and her horse Rusty. Paula Pickrel had quite a few visitors to her headstone restoration demonstrations in the cemetery.

Peoria 4-H members, Catherine and Elizabeth Mattern, our violinists, had an audience, as did Richard Hartley, our Hammered dulcimer player.

Jerry Caldwell made some pizzas in the stone oven. Bob Grady and Robert Adair demonstrated wood carving. Emily Grady and Donna Brown demonstrated fiber spinning. Cookie Jar Bakery was there selling some delicious pastries. Herb Unkrich, bluebird expert, also had some visitors.

Doug Franks took five trips with our visitors to tour the Jubilee Prairies.

The total count of visitors for the year so far, including the 226 from May through June brings our grand total for the year to 506.
