Dear 4-H Families,
I am in denial. We cannot be in November already! How did this happen? The holiday seasons are upon us, and I have so many things to do….
Much like you all, I am beginning to plan ahead for the next several months of 4-H. As you enroll in your 4-H projects, you too are planning for the next several months of 4-H. If you find yourself getting stuck with the enrollment/re-enrollment process, please reach out to me.
There are multiple opportunities for you to get involved with 4-H at the county, unit and state levels in this edition.
I would love to come visit your club, so please let me know if there is a particular event/meeting you would like me to be present at. If I do not happen to see you in the office or out and about, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Your 4-H Program Fee must be paid before I can accept you as a member!!
You can pay via card through 4-H Online, but you will need to change the default payment option from check to credit card.
You can mail your payment to the Tazewell Extension Office.
Payment will need to be received by March 1, 2018.
2018 Clover Clinic Volunteers Needed
Each year, Tazewell 4-H joins Fulton, Mason, and Peoria County for a huge project day called Clover Clinic. This large regional event is held at ICC and attracts around 200 4-H members. There are nearly 40 different hands-on classes offered throughout the day.
We are currently in the process of lining up the instructors and assistants for the 2018 event, scheduled for Saturday, February 17. If you are interested in volunteering for one of these roles, please contact Katharine Girone at the Extension Office.
Class topics and lessons should be hands-on, relatable to a 4-H project or service project, doable for youth 8 to 13 years old, and fit into a one hour class or a double session (2 hours).
If you are interested in teaching, but need help with a project/class idea, contact the Extension Office. We have some specific classes that kids love, for which we need instructors.

Club News: 4-H Quest Club
On September 10, the 4-H Quest Club held their kick-off meeting at the Smith family homestead. Five families were present and had a good time playing beforehand. After the cook-out, they held their meeting. During the meeting, club tour ideas and the club calendar for the year were discussed; families also volunteered for snacks.

2017 Illinois State Fair: Tell us what you think
More than 3,100 4-H members exhibited in the Illinois State Fair 4-H Project Show this year. We had all kinds of excitement… from hands on demonstrations by the U of I College of Vet Med to the announcement of a $1.5 million dollar grant from Google and the launch of a virtual reality 4-H world. As many cool things as we had, we know there are always ways we can improve. We want to hear it all… the good, the not so good, and the downright amazing. Write us a note at illinois4H@illinois.edu.
Share Your Story!
The Illinois 4-H website, https://4h.extension.illinois.edu/, has a place for you to share the story of your 4-H adventure. We want to hear from you! Club leaders, we know you're proud of your club members, so please take two minutes to tell us about your club and include a photo! We will feature all the stories on the website during the year. The share your story option is on EVERY program page and EVERY event page.
Get your lifetime membership to the Illinois 4-H Alumni Association!
Once a 4-H member, always a 4-H supporter. We know that 4-H alumni share a bond. We're all family, and we don't want to lose track of our family members. Now, you can register online as a 4-H alum (from any state) and tell your story. Click over to go.illinois.edu/4Halumni.
4-H Online Enrollment is OPEN!
It's time to enroll and re-enroll in 4-H! The enrollment process will still be completed through 4-H Online, IL.4Honline.com. That's right, we are still using the online enrollment process. Here are some tips.
If you are re-enrolling, do NOT create a new profile. You will need the email address and password you created last year. If you can't remember which email you used, Katharine will look it up for you. If you forgot your password, just use the "I forgot my password" option on the login screen to reset it. Once you make it to your "Member List" screen, simply select the youth or adult volunteer member you want to re-enroll by clicking on the "edit" button next to their name. ALL adult volunteers will need to re-enroll, as well. Please edit any information that has changed. Your years in 4-H automatically rolled over, so you do not have to do anything with that. All of your 4-H projects from last year will still be listed, so please be sure to take the time and delete any of those you no longer wish to take. When you make it to the payment option, remember you can pay via credit, but you will have to make sure you select that option. Also, please be sure to check your credit card information from last year, as it saved that information. If your card has changed, then you will need to edit the information. Be sure to stop at the invoice screen if you are enrolling more than 4 youth, so Katharine can get the discount applied to your invoice.
If you are adding a new youth to the family or just getting started in 4-H Online for the first time, the documents located on our website will be the most helpful, http://web.extension.illinois.edu/fmpt/tazewell4h/5386.html. Remember, you will have to add at least one project to submit your enrollment.
Please remember, you will not be activated until payment is received. Also, if you need the project manual, remember to select it from the drop down bar when you select your projects. All enrollments are DUE MARCH 1, 2018!
The 4-H leaders in Tazewell County will distribute your enrollment materials at your next club meeting. Feel free to contact Katharine if you would like some one-on-one assistance; email@example.com or 309-347-6614.
4-H Online Payment Methods
Illinois 4-H charges $20 per person Program Fee with a maximum per family Program Fee of $60.00.
*If this fee will cause a financial hardship, please contact the Extension Office.*
INDIVIDUAL PAY BY CREDIT CARD
If you would like to pay the Program Fee using a credit card, choose Add New Card and complete the information. Your card will not be charged until the county staff approves your enrollment.
INDIVIDUAL PAY BY PERSONAL CHECK
If you would like to pay the Program Fee with a personal check or cash, choose County/Club 4-H Check and click Select Payment Method. You will receive a confirmation screen with instructions on where to submit the payment. Your enrollment will not be approved until the county staff receives your payment.
CLUB PAYS FEE
In some clubs, the club will do fundraising to pay all or part of the fee for all the members of the club. If this is the case, your club leader will share with you that information. Continue to the Payment screen. Choose County/Club 4H Check as the payment option, which will be highlighted by default. Choose Select Payment Method to advance to the final screen to confirm and submit your enrollment. Your enrollment will not be approved until the county staff receives payment from the club.
MULTI CHILD FEE WAIVER
Illinois 4-H charges $20 per person Program Fee with a maximum per family Program Fee of $60.00.
Based on this amount, the first 3 youth members in a family are be expected to pay the $20.00 per member. For the 4th youth member and beyond, the fee will be waived.
In order to receive the fee waiver, DO NOT advance beyond the Invoice screen. Rather than choose payment, and then on the final screen submit the enrollment, choose My Member List in the upper right portion of the screen. Notify Katharine Girone at the Extension office, 309-347-6614 or firstname.lastname@example.org, that you have enrolled the member, but did not complete so that a discount code can be applied.
Begin your global destination with 4-H
Applications are being accepted for participation in the 2018 4-H outbound international exchange programs being offered through University of Illinois 4-H and the States' 4-H International Committee. For 2018, interested 4-Hers between the ages of 12 – 18 can select to participate in a 4-week home stay to Costa Rica, Japan, South Korea or Norway. If you are interested in a longer experience abroad, the Japan program offers an opportunity to attend Japanese school for three weeks before starting a 4-week homestay. Dates of travel range from mid-June – mid-August depending on the program.
These programs enhance the 4-H program through international, cross-cultural experiences that enable young people to improve their leadership and communication skills, while increasing their international awareness and understanding.
Selected delegates will be placed with a host family where they will experience family life, community activities, and be immersed in the local culture of the country. With 4-H exchange opportunities, you are not just a tourist, but also a family member and expected to participate in all aspects of family and community life the program has to offer.
Program costs vary depending on the country and estimated airfare. Scholarships are available to provide financial assistance to selected delegates. States' 4-H will provide orientation and travel manuals to aid in delegate preparation. Delegates will be assigned to an adult chaperon who will travel with the group and will be placed with their own host family(ies) during the homestay experience. Adults interested in serving as a chaperon are encouraged to apply.
Interested individuals may access program information and delegate applications at: go.illinois.edu/global4H.

All students, any age may create an individual or group tablescape to be in place by 1 p.m. on February 11.
