4-H Kids Helping Kids$2,100+ raised so far to help area children
The Mission AgVenture Kids Helping Kids event occurred on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the White County 4-H G.I.F.T. Garden. White County 4-H kids raised over $2,100.00. That is amazing! The 4-H'ers enjoyed playing Ag Olympic games and making scarecrows. Already this year Kids Helping Kids has donated the first payment of an instrument to a student at Washington Attendance Center who wanted to be in the band. Kids Helping Kids has also donated money to Back to School supplies for high school students in our community. It is not too late to ever donate to Kids Helping Kids, and if you would like to donate, please contact Amber Ochs, the local Extension office at 618-382-2662, or download an application at: http://web.extension.illinois.edu/ghhpsw/white4h/2711.html. White Co 4-H'ers are doing great things in our county!

Speaking for Illinois 4-HAnother chance to speak up
If you enjoy talking to others about the 4-H program, are 14 years or older, and want to get involved in some state 4-H programming efforts, THIS is the training for you! Speaking for Illinois 4-H provides members with tips on how to fine-tune their 4-H story to talk to elected officials (like county board members or state legislators), donors, civic groups, or other audiences. Learn how to enhance your information with statistics or facts about the Illinois 4-H program – tell your audiences why 4-H is so great for young people! If you are 4-H Ambassador for your county, what a great way to enhance your skills for the greatest impact. And to top it all off, after you are trained, you'll receive an invitation to join us at the State Capitol next spring for Legislative Connection.
Registration is open now and we're filling up quickly. Registration closes Nov. 8 or when our space is full, so you'll want to act now. Cost is $12 and includes lunch. Youth are required to attend the entire day's program (9:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) to be placed on the state roster. Step forward and tell the 4-H story! Learn more @ go.illinois.edu/sfi4H.

This year's event is be open to ANY Illinois high school teen in grades 9 to 12. Junior Leadership Conference7th & 8th Graders -- Save the Date
The IL 4-H Junior Leadership Conference is Coming!
Mission: Adventure! Who doesn't love an adventure? We know our 4-H'ers in the 7th and 8th grades do because they fill the Illinois 4-H Jr. Leadership Conference to capacity each year, and we're hoping to do the same for our 2018 event! Save the dates of February 24-25, 2018 and plan to travel to Springfield to join us at the President Abraham Lincoln Springfield Hotel. Look for more information & registration on the Illinois 4-H website: go.illinois.edu/4Hjlc. The Illinois State 4-H Youth Leadership Team creates a fun, hands-on weekend that's full of 4-H educational sessions, lots of laughter, meeting new people, and learning new things! Take the mission and find the adventure - we'd love to see you there!
Citizenship Washington FocusRegistration is OPEN!
Join us for a trip to Washington!
Registration is open for the Illinois 2018 Citizenship Washington Focus trip! Consider joining us for this once-in-a-lifetime trip to explore the federal legislative process, tour various sites around the Washington, D.C. area, visit Illinois' Representatives, and more. We'll be traveling Saturday, July 7 to Saturday, July 14, 2018.
Citizenship Washington Focus is for 4-H members ages 14-18 by May 1, 2018. Our delegates will travel by bus or air, depending upon the number of final delegates who register. We haven't been able to finalize our 2018 costs yet (not all of our vendors have responded), but our 2017 cost to youth was $1025. We know we are potentially looking at a travel cost increase, so we are estimating a final cost of $1200. That includes a discount due to financial assistance from the Illinois 4-H Foundation. Payments are made when registering, February, and May. The initial deposit is $325. The final payment will be adjusted as needed to meet whatever the final cost will be.
Don't forget the Support Committee will assist you in paying half of the cost after you attend the trip.
Space is available on a first-come; first-served basis, so don't wait too long! More information is available on the 4-H website: go.illinois.edu/4Hcwf.
