Foot Care for Diabetic Patients

October 13, 2016 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

You are invited to attend a special October 13, 2016 meeting of the Diabetes Support Group. Our special guest speaker will be Dr. Robert Raley, a local podiatrist from Kankakee, IL. Dr. Raley will discuss “Foot Care for Diabetic Patients”.

People with diabetes are susceptible to nerve damage in feet and toes, which can cause loss of sensitivity. Over time you may not feel a cut, a blister or a sore. Foot injuries such as these can cause ulcers and infections. Damage to the blood vessels can also mean that your feet do not get enough blood and oxygen. Information on proper home and professional foot care will be discussed. You do not have to have diabetes to attend or benefit from this informative presentation.

Diabetes Support Group meetings are free and open to the public. Seating is limited. Please RSVP by calling the Extension office at 815-933-8337 by October 10. Supper will be served prior to Dr. Raley’s presentation, followed by a question and answer session.
