It is nearly a year since Reorganization was put into effect and we became the Grundy, Kankakee and Will Unit. We have four educators dedicated to the three counties. With the new job responsibilities and new territory to cover, the educators and I have been networking and broadening the reach of Extension. I am generally pleased with how programming has expanded in all the counties.
We are working within our budget. The State has provided about half of the matching funds for the current year. We continue to hope that we are maintained in the state budget for the coming year. As always, if you have an opportunity to share the Extension and 4-H story with local legislators, please do so. In April, Extension received the money from the Agricultural Premium Fund for last year's 4-H projects. Checks have been distributed to the 4-Her's for their projects (finally).
Joyce Goodwin, long-time 4-H and Youth Community Worker, is retiring the end of May. Joyce has been an integral member of Extension and served Kankakee County 4-H for over 24 years. We will certainly miss her. Come wish her well at her retirement party!
As always, contact me if you have questions or concerns.
