Dear Friends of Extension:
It seems I report frequently on money matters, but this is my season of preparing the coming year's budget. Our local funds are stable. The state? The governor's budget for FY 13 released in March continues to include the state matching money for locally raised funds for Extension; less than last year, but not the decrease that many expected. The downside is that we are still waiting for state funds for the current year. As I write this (early March) we have not received the money for 4-H premiums! All in good time…I hope!
It has been busy around here! A new crop of Master Gardener interns are completing their classroom studies and will be joining our seasoned Master Gardeners volunteering in the communities across our county. The 4-H'ers are planning and working on their projects. Our meeting room has all kinds of nutrition, local foods, family life and home horticulture sessions scheduled for the coming months. Check the calendar and make plans to join us!
