Welcome all 4-H'ers, leaders, volunteers and parents to the 2010-2011 4-H year. Included in this 4-H Newsletter is timely information to help you. This smoothes the way for your 4-H year, and your 4-H experience. There are new projects and new opportunities. We hope you will take advantage of them.
It takes superintendents, assistant super-intendents, judges, fairboard directors, 4-H leaders, 4-H'ers, parents, volunteers, trophy donors, auction buyers, auctioneers, auction clerks, and all who helped before, during or after the 2010 fair to make it a success. Hope we didn't miss anyone because without the volunteers, the Kankakee County Fair and 4-H shows could not have taken place. Thanks for all you did this year!
Kankakee County 4-H Week will be October 10-16, 2010. Kankakee County 4-H Club Window Display Contest will be held at this time. All 4-H Club Window Displays must be in place by 4:30 pm Monday, October 11. The theme is is "Renew the Tradition." "Celebrate 4-H" may also be used as a theme
Prizes: Each club who participates receives a $5 award. Rosettes, and cash prizes, will be awarded for first and second place in the categories of One Dimensional and Three Dimensional.
It is very important that a Thank You Note is sent to ALL donors of 4-H trophies/ plaques, gift certificates, savings bonds, or buyers at the 4-H Livestock Auction at the county fair, and also other 4-H Judging events! Many 4-H'ers benefit from the generosity of individuals and area businesses. The donors won't know you appreciate their assistance unless you take the time to tell them. If the time is not taken to write a thank you the donor may decide to no longer donate. It only takes a few minutes to write a Thank You, but it means a lot. We have 4-H Thank You Notes in the Extension Office if you would like to purchase them.
All trophies/plaques this year had Thank You Notes attached to them. Please show your appreciation to these generous supporters! Go and visit them and tell them "Thank You" in person.
4-H Recognition Night will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Tuscany Steak and Pasta House, Manteno.
