University of Illinois Extension staff went to Wenzhou University in China this past September to present Going Solo. We will be partnering with WZU to create a Going Solo China version.

What Is Going Solo?
Instead of the traditional way of teaching entrepreneurship, Going SOLO emphasizes a whole range of skills required for success. University of Illinois Extension staff has designed a curriculum that includes activities that encourage creative problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. In addition to the activities, Going SOLO uses an online simulation game to enhance learning.
Participants become involved in a virtual jewelry company where they are responsible for creating a product, planning marketing strategies, production levels, and managing finances while enjoying learning.
Going SOLO is a complete
package for guiding aspiring entrepreneurs into the world of business ownership.
The materials have been developed for both youth and adult entrepeneurial
training programs and is the result of feedback from experienced instructors.
The flexible and adaptable design can be customized for virtually any setting
or audience, including:
- Classrooms
- Community Based
Educational Programs
- Camps
- Workshops, Seminars
and Short Courses
The curriculum also meets
Illinois Learning Standards in math and language arts and directly addresses
five applications of learning:
- Solving Problems
- Communicating
- Using Technology
- Working in Teams
- Making Academic
Connections
