Resolve to Work on Your Bucket List in 2016

Well, it's that time of year again, when we not only reflect on how fast time really does fly, but also ponder the things we've done and the things we've left undone in 2015. It is likewise a time when we start to think about the upcoming year and perhaps things we'd like to accomplish. Often times, people will begin the year by making New Year's resolutions to better themselves in ways like eating less or exercising more. The term New Year's resolution is usually only thought or talked about in the early months of the year, because the staying power of resolutions oftentimes doesn't last much longer than that.

This year, instead of resolving to make change in your life, why not work on your bucket list? Too often, we find ourselves saying things like, "I've always wanted to do that or go there," but we never seem to get around to it. We wait for the right time to come along, while our aspirations and dreams remain unfulfilled. By the way, in case you are wondering what a bucket list is, it is a list of things you want to learn, do, or accomplish in your lifetime. Your bucket list can be made up of grand or "maxi" goals like traveling through Europe or writing a novel, or they can be "mini" plans like meeting friends for lunch regularly, or learning to golf. In fact, for most of us, the mini desires we'd like to fulfill might give us the biggest sense of satisfaction.

So, the next time you find yourself saying "someday I'd really like to do that," why not make someday happen in 2016? This next year, resolve to check things off of your bucket list!
