Healthy Aging

September is Healthy Aging Month and I was able to participate in the Senior Voice Wellness Symposium which took place September 19th in Davenport, IA. I was there to promote U of I Extension, our programs, and volunteer opportunities for seniors in the Quad Cities area.

Not only did I want to share information with everyone there but I also wanted participants to share something with me! I asked each person that came to my table to share a 'healthy aging tip' or something they do that adds value and meaning to their lives. What I gathered from this day I have compiled into a Healthy Aging Bulletin (an online bulletin board). Here you will find healthy aging tips from people who are living full and meaningful lives. You will also find quotes attached to each picture; just click on a picture to reveal a timeless quote from the wise. I think we can all learn something from the people that have come before us.

I have always believed that age is just a number and what matters most is how you live your life day to day. Growing old may be inevitable but growing up is a choice! Never lose sight of the big picture and what matters most in your life.
