Soft Pretzels

Servings: 12
Ingredients:
2 cups white flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 pkg. active dry yeast (1Tbsp.)
1 1/3 cups warm water (not hot to touch)
3 Tbsp. oil
1 Tbsp. honey or corn syrup
- Salt to taste
    Instructions:
  1. Stir together the white and whole wheat flours.
  2. Measure 1½ cups of the flour mixture into a mixing bowl.
  3. Stir in the yeast.
  4. Add the water, oil and honey.
  5. Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes.
  6. Add enough of the remaining flour to make dough stiff.
  7. Knead 4 minutes until dough is well mixed.
  8. Cut into 12 pieces.
  9. Roll each to a rope 15 inches long.
  10. Shape into pretzel form.
  11. Brush with water and sprinkle very lightly with salt.
  12. Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 425 degrees for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
