Margaret Larson joined U of I Extension in June, 2004, coming from a 20-year career in traditional higher education settings in Illinois. She has a bachelor's degree in social sciences and a master's degree in counseling from Illinois State University. She has worked in the areas of advising, counseling, recruitment and admissions, and student services.

Larson is involved with programming in the areas of family and consumer sciences, and community and economic development. She also works directly with the Extension Councils and the 4-H and Extension Foundation Board. In addition, she serves as coordinator of the activities and projects of the Master Gardeners.
